Mexican rider Nancy Arreola added to roster
Mexican rider Nancy Arreola has been added to the Horizon Fitness Racing Team squad for 2011. The diminutive rider will arrive in Europe in March, and join the team for training in Italy in April at the Mpire Cycling Centre.
From there, Nancy will race in the UK as well as in the team's races in Europe as she looks to gain the knowledge and experience necessary to take her forward in the sport.
“We’ve got a strong squad already, but we’ve got to take into account the amount of time that riders are going to be away from the team while they pursue personal goals within the sport, like selection for London 2012. Adding Nancy to our squad will do 2 things for us. Firstly, it will add some serious firepower to the team in the hills. On top of this, it gives us a bigger pool of riders to ensure we can field strong teams in all our events in the UK and Europe” commented Team Manager Stefan Wyman on the signing.
“We’re fully committed to helping our riders pursue their goals with the National Team, just like we were in 2010 with selections for the Commonwealth Games, so we know what it’s like to have riders in several places at once. Nancy is a top level rider who’s looking to prove her ability in Europe. Races are few and far between in Mexico and I’m sure the scale of the racing program in Europe is going to come as a shock. However, we’ll make sure we tailor a plan for Nancy that will allow her to gain the best experience possible while she’s with us.”
“Nancy will return to race the Mexican national championships during the season, and selection provided, will also take part in the Pan-American Championships. So, this is sure to be a really busy year for Nancy, but I can’t wait to get started working with her.”
"I'm very happy to have the opportunity, I'm really looking forward to a great season. It's going to be very challenging for me at first, but I am very motivated and working very hard in order to have the best results for my new team" said Nancy about joining the team. She continued "I'm proud to be representing the Horizon Fitness team colours. I love the ideals of the team and the fact that it's a Bike Pure team, and I'm also proud that I will be representing my country somehow in Europe. "
