Season end round-up
By Hannah Rich - Horizon Fitness Racing Team
Just starting to get back into a routine of training after having a few weeks off my bike and enjoying some time to be a normal teenager. I finished my season on a high this year after competing in the 2010 Commonwealth Games in Delhi.
Delhi was one of the most amazing experiences of my life and after all the anticipation, I felt travelling to Delhi all the doubt left my mind as we got to the Athletes' Village and it was amazing! We all got settled into the accomodation and tried to get straight into a training programme to get all of the flight out of our legs.
Once the competing started, I started to get really nervous realising how big the commy games actually were. You realise how many countries are there and the standard which they compete at. I found the Points race a big step up as it was my first international track race, so I had no idea what to expect, so that was a very steep learning curve. Once it came to the scratch race the day after, I found myself a bit more calm as I knew a bit more what to expect. The race was harder than any scratch race I've done, so I was really happy to get 6th after an active race where my team role was to be present in any moves. After the scratch race was finished, I was looking forward to enjoying the games experience and being able to go home and end my season with a nice holiday to Spain.
I enjoyed my 2 weeks away in Spain. It was really nice to get away to a place where I could chill out on the beach and go in the sea to forget everything. I hired a moped on holiday which was really good fun to go exploring, was thinking about hiring a bike but decided to give the legs a rest for a bit and get a bit fat with the amount I was eating! It was a really good get away.
Looking forward to getting back into the swing of things now though, and becoming healthy!!
