On the mend

By Dani King - Horizon Fitness Racing Team

This blog is going to be short and sweet as nothing much has been going on in the world of me at the moment. I’m back on my bike properly now, which is great! I’m trying to get fit as quick as possible. I’m staying in Wales at the moment and am riding the track most days in preparation for the national track champs which I hope to ride at the end of September.

After the track champs, I am having an operation to take my tonsils and adenoids out which will hopefully prevent illness in the future. One strange thing connected with that is that when I was 10 I had my adenoids out so they’ve either grown back or the surgeon just forgot to take them out!

I’ve got my first proper race this weekend which is the Welsh Crit Champs in Cardigan (Wales). Everyone makes fun of me for ‘wanting’ to be Welsh.

On a separate note, I’m really looking forward to pinning a number on my back again as I just love racing and it has been too long! I’m really proud of my Horizon Fitness team mate, Sarah, winning two world titles in Canada recently, and it’s an honour to be riding with her in the team pursuit at the nationals. We have a training camp coming up soon so hopefully we’ll get it perfected and show everyone what we can do in September!
