Dani King wins in Belgium

By Stefan Wyman - Horizon Fitness Racing Team

In a great run of form, Dani King has travelled to Belgium to race with some of Europe's best riders as she prepares for a busy month of racing in the run up to the National Championships.

In her first race, Dani finished 4th, coming in 2nd in the bunch sprint. But today, Dani topped that with a fine win (her first in Belgium), by winning the bunch sprint at Wodecq, in the South of Belgium.

The 94km event was a fast race, with four riders going clear of the bunch. It wasn't until the last lap that their escape came back. Dani commented straight after the race "... they'd got nearly two minutes on us. So I attacked with two laps to go to try to get in the middle, but I was chased down. It was then all about trying to get the break back and set myself up for the sprint."

Clearly ecstatic with the win, Dani continued, "When I kicked I felt great and just kept going. I think I won by two bike lengths in the end, so I'm really happy. I've got some team mates coming over in the next couple of days, so fingers crossed the next few races can be just as good. I know that winning in Belgium is an important part of my progress and will hopefully put me in contention for selection for future championships with Great Britain. I'm working hard with my team to grow as a rider in all areas, and I have a good structure and plan for the season. I'm sticking to it, and it's working. That's four wins for me in May so far, and I'm seriously happy."
